Fancy giving yourself a fitness challenge for 2010? Well look no further. We have the perfect solution for you in the form of the brilliant Bupa Great Yorkshire Run which takes place in Sheffield on Sunday 5th September 2010. Yorkshire Forward supporting this event in order to showcase the region. The event will also generate economic benefit for the area and encourage additional visitor spend to the region thus contributing to our target to increase visitor spend by 5% annually.
The 10k treat is perfect goal for you to get fit and healthy in the summer months which are now fast approaching and is open to runners of all abilities aged 15 and over. The route takes you out from Arundel Gate in Sheffield City Centre down the fast and flat Penistone Road and then back into the Arundel Gate. When the going gets tough, there'll be loads of bands on the run and spectators cheering you on which will help you on your way! Then your reward when you get to the finish line is a fantastic finisher's pack which includes your well deserved medal and exclusive finisher's t shirt that you can wear with pride! You can enter the run as an individual or why not enter a team into the Bupa Great Yorkshire Run Business Challenge?
The challenge is available to small, medium and large businesse. Businesses can enter all male, all female or mixed teams. Teams can be made up of a minimum of 4 to a maximum of 8 people. If you've got any children who wish to join in the fun, then get them to take part in the Bupa Junior & Mini Great Yorkshire Run which, in a change to previous years, will see a move to a city centre course and will also take place on the same day as the senior event. The little ones can run either 1.5km in the Mini Run if they're between 3-8 years old, whilst the 9-14 year olds can try their hand at a 3km Junior Run course. There's loads going on to whet your appetite on event day with a continental market and The Wheel of Sheffield at the top of Fargate to name but a few of the attractions to sample the delights of.
